Celebrating the 60thAnniversaryof Diplomatic Relations between Korea and Sweden Choreography Exchange Project: Korea National Contemporary Dance Company x Skånes Dansteater Sweden

The 2019 stage for the Choreography Exchange Project will be held in Jayu Theater of the Seoul Arts Center next March. The Choreography Exchange Project is a joint project created by the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company and Sweden's Skånes Dansteater in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relationships between the Republic of Korea and Sweden. It is held for the second time this year after it first took place in 2018. The project aims to facilitate cultural and artistic exchange between the two countries through contemporary dance. A choreographer was selected from each of the Swedish and Korean teams to choreograph stages for the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company and Skånes Dansteater. The Korea National Contemporary Dance Company chose Jang Hyerim, who majored in Korean dance and Korean dance creation to choreograph for Skånes Dansteater. Jang Hyerim has been staying in Malmö, Sweden, for the last two months, choreographing for the stage with the local staff. In March, Seoul Arts Center will host the world premieres of the stage choreographed by Jang Hyerim and performed by dancers of Skånes Dansteater, as well as Snapshot of the Crowd by Lidia Wos, the guest choreographer from Skånes Dansteater. Furthermore, last year's performance for the project, The longest distance between two points, choreographed by Fernando Melo and performed by dancers of the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company, will be restaged. At Sweden Connection Ⅱ, two stages of the Choreography Exchange Project will be presented in which the choreography styles and dance moves of Sweden and Korea will meet and merge into harmony, along with contemporary dance stages from Northern Europe.
